Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucas King!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Samson Savea!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savea shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and King counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
King connects with a body shot that sends Savea's belly button to the back.
King sends Savea crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! King is motioning to the referee to let Savea up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
It looks like Samson Savea has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Savea misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Savea shoots in looking for a takedown. King tries to sprawl out of it but Savea keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. King manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lucas King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samson Savea.
Savea looks gassed!
King rushes Savea with punches - Savea moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Savea goes down! King follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lucas King!
Lucas King is the new heavyweight champion!
