0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cock Chestner! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chestner avoids the head kick by Emelanenko.
Emelanenko scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Chestner doesn't seem bothered though. Emelanenko throws a head kick but Chestner moves out of range.
Emelanenko drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Emelanenko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chestner can do anything to dispel that myth. Emelanenko looking to pass the guard. Chestner pulls Emelanenko in close to his closed guard and prevents Emelanenko from doing any damage or advancing position. Chestner wants to sweep but no luck. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Emelanenko closes the distance and clinches. Emelanenko looking to stall.

Emelanenko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Chestner avoids the attempt from Emelanenko to control. Emelanenko keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Emelanenko shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Chestner counters by moving into the clinch. Chestner gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Emelanenko wants to control but Chestner is keeping busy.
Chestner looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Chestner is tying to control. Emelanenko wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Chestner tries to pass the half guard into mount. Emelanenko knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Chestner trying to control the pace.

Despite being in the dominant position, Cock Chestner just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Chestner scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Chestner just content to control the position.

Chestner creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Chestner wants to control but Emelanenko is keeping him busy. Chestner stands up and we're back to a striking position. Chestner drives through and clinches with Emelanenko against the cage.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Chestner is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Chestner lands with a short shot to the head. Chestner prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fedor Emelanenko. That's going to take a lot out of him. Chestner gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Emelanenko regains guard.
Chestner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Emelanenko looking for a guillotine here but Chestner defends easily.

Emelanenko lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Chestner hang on? Chestner takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Emelanenko controlling the pace for now. Emelanenko prevents Chestner from getting the reversal.

He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
