PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cy Path (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Cronan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Cronan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cy Path!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Cronan!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Path slips a jab from Cronan.

Path closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cronan to the mat! Cronan manages to get full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Cronan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Path is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cronan.

Path looks up at the clock and then as Cronan takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Path smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cronan is trying to maintain the position but Path is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Path working over Cronan with some ground and pound. Cronan looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Path wants to free his trapped foot but Cronan is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Path is nestled in close to Cronan, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Cronan is rocked!
Path lands a big elbow - Cronan is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Path!

After winning the bout, Cy Path thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
