Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Shirwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cris Dupont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shirwin comes to the cage accompanied by Still Standing - Hilltop Hoods. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cris Dupont!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dupont drives through with a takedown into Shirwin's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Shirwin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Dupont is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shirwin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shirwin has escaped and now he's on top!

Shirwin is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Shirwin trying to control but Dupont is working from the bottom.

Dupont working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shirwin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shirwin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dupont wants to stand up but Shirwin is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Shirwin scores with a one two! Dupont had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shirwin has closed the distance and engaged Dupont in a clinch.

Dupont tries to score a body lock takedown but Shirwin shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Dupont has Shirwin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Shirwin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Shirwin breaks the clinch.
Dupont looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Shirwin misses with a few strikes there.

and Dupont counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shirwin's guard now.

Shirwin is working an open guard so Dupont takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Shirwin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dupont.
Steve Shirwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cris Dupont.
Dupont misses with a takedown attempt - Shirwin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dupont looks gassed!

Shirwin works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Dupont tries for a takedown but Shirwin circles away easily
and Shirwin counters with a straight right hand.

Dupont leaves his chin hanging out and Shirwin seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Dupont crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
