Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sam Hitz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dave Dameshek! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dameshek drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Dameshek working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. A lull in the action here as Dameshek stalls from top position. Hitz tries to buck Dameshek off but Dameshek is having none of it. You can see the frustration on Hitz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dameshek is looking to take a break and control but Hitz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dameshek working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Dameshek goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hitz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dameshek but great work by Hitz. Hitz tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Hitz throwing strikes but Dameshek manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Dameshek laying and praying for a moment but Hitz takes advantage and regains half guard. Hitz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hitz wants to improve his position but Dameshek is controlling well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hitz wants to control but Dameshek is keeping busy.
Hitz looking for a kimura from the bottom but Dameshek passes into side control! Hitz prevents Dameshek from improving position. Dameshek tries for a kimura but Hitz is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dameshek in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Hitz is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Hitz wants to improve his position but Dameshek is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dameshek seems to be looking for submissions.
Dameshek prevents Hitz from improving his position. Hitz looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Dameshek moves nicely into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dameshek tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Dameshek in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Hitz is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
