Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hern Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genival Lacerda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vargas comes into the arena with Shawn Blades - California Dream blaring out of the sound system. Genival Lacerda is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Genival Lacerda!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lacerda showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Vargas.
Vargas misses with a takedown
and Lacerda counters with a single leg into guard. Vargas didn't expect that.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lacerda trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Vargas keeping moving, preventing Lacerda from controlling successfully.
Lacerda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vargas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lacerda drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Vargas dives on top into guard.
Lacerda is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Vargas is aware though and is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vargas is pushing down on Lacerda's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lacerda is fighting to maintain full guard but Vargas has managed to sneak the leg through.
Lacerda is looking for a sweep. Vargas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vargas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lacerda on the ground.
Lacerda wants to control but Vargas is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Lacerda kicks Vargas off and gets back to his feet.
Lacerda closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Vargas did well to prevent Lacerda getting side control.

Lacerda wants to pass the guard but Vargas is defending well.
Lacerda prevents Vargas from improving his position.
Vargas is working hard here to advance position.
Lacerda is pressing down on Vargas's thigh, looking to free his foot. Vargas is holding on for now.
Lacerda working over Vargas with some ground and pound. Vargas looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Lacerda uses his free foot to push down on Vargas's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vargas.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lacerda looking to finish Vargas with some ground and pound. This is bad for Vargas!
Vargas is working to get back to half guard.
Lacerda working for a guillotine from mount but Vargas is in no mood to give up.
Lacerda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vargas is looking to escape.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Vargas defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Lacerda.

Lacerda in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Vargas tries to control Lacerda's body but Lacerda pushes him off. Vargas squirms to his side and now Lacerda has his back!
Lacerda looking to break Vargas's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Vargas remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Lacerda will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lacerda has managed to slip his arm under Vargas's chin. This could be all over... yep, Vargas is tapping out! Submission win for Lacerda.
