PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jose Dillard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kees Flodder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Dillard!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kees Flodder!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flodder throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Dillard counters with a takedown into side control.
Flodder wants to get back to his feet but Dillard drags him back down.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Flodder can do anything to dispel that myth.

Dillard is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Flodder is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Flodder is trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dillard is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Flodder knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Flodder is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dillard is controlling him well.
Dillard tries to advance to mount but can't.

Dillard working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Flodder is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Dillard wants to stand but Flodder is controlling his arm.
Flodder is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dillard thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Dillard is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Flodder knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dillard tries to move into full mount but can't pass Flodder's legs.

Dillard tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dillard has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dillard wants to stand but Flodder is controlling his arm.

Flodder is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dillard asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Flodder throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Dillard doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Flodder counters with a series of strikes. Dillard will be more careful next time no doubt.
Dillard shoots in for a double leg but Flodder sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dillard displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Flodder comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Dillard will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dillard fails to land the takedown.
Dillard gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Dillard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Flodder avoids it really well and circles away.
Dillard missing with a left hand there. Flodder was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Jab, jab by Flodder - just one landing.
Dillard avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Flodder leaves Dillard with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Dillard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dillard tries to clinch up

and Flodder counters with a crisp one two that drops Dillard! Flodder thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Dillard to his feet! Dillard is in big trouble!


Dillard is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Flodder drops Dillard with a huge uppercut! Dillard drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Flodder is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kees Flodder! Kees Flodder retains his bantamweight title!
