PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Benson James Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mofo Jojo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Penn might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Eye of the Tiger. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Benson James Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mofo Jojo!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jojo misses with a body punch
and Penn counters with a stiff right hand.
Penn scores with a hook to the body. Jojo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Jojo looks to land a combination but Penn avoids it well.
Penn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jojo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Penn somewhat.
Jojo has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jojo there as he acknowledges the shot.
Jojo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Penn gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jojo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jojo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Penn works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Penn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Penn has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Jojo should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Penn has tightened it up now! Jojo should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Benson James Penn!
Benson James Penn decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
