The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryan Junior closes the distance but Roberts moves to the side and Roberts counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Ryan Junior is staying active underneath Roberts, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ryan Junior is trying to maintain the position but Roberts is very close to passing his half guard. Roberts looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Ryan Junior looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Roberts seems to be looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ryan Junior is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Still in half guard, Roberts seems content to control. Roberts trying to advance position but Ryan Junior counters by regaining guard. Ryan Junior trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryan Junior seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jack Ryan Junior wasn't active enough on the ground. Roberts shoots in but no luck this time. Roberts scores a takedown into full mount! Roberts content just to control the position here. Ryan Junior is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ryan Junior holds on for dear life, controlling Roberts's posture momentarily. Ryan Junior is wriggling around trying to escape.
Roberts controlling from mount. Ryan Junior is controlling an arm, preventing Roberts from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ryan Junior is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Roberts looking to control and managing it successfully. Ryan Junior is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Roberts goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ryan Junior is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Roberts dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Roberts gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Roberts looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Roberts looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ryan Junior passes into side control.
Ryan Junior is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Roberts is trying to escape and Ryan Junior transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Roberts is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ryan Junior! Very nice indeed!
