PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Toni Soprano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Wallase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Toni Soprano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Christopher Wallase! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wallase wants to clinch. Wallase forces Soprano back against the cage and clinches. Wallase trying to land knees to the body.
Nice elbow from Wallase.
It looks like Toni Soprano has been cut. Wallase jumps guard and drags Soprano to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Wallase pulls Soprano in close to his closed guard and prevents Soprano from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Toni Soprano. Wallase closes the distance and clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice elbow from Wallase. Wallase's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Wallase changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soprano tries to avoid it but Wallase manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soprano to the ground. Soprano escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Soprano circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wallase doesn't manage to clinch there - Soprano circles away.
Soprano throws a series of punches but Wallase moves out of range. Wallase drives through and clinches with Soprano against the cage.
Wallase gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Soprano takes a knee right on the jaw!
Soprano is trying to break the clinch but Wallase is controlling him. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Wallase creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Toni Soprano's cut is getting worse. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nice elbow from Wallase. Wallase stalling against the cage.
Wallase lands an elbow inside that Soprano shrugs off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wallase has Soprano pressed against the cage. He pushes Soprano back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Wallase throws a beautiful elbow that sends Soprano crashing to the floor! Wallase piles on the pressure with more strikes! Soprano is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Christopher Wallase!
