Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Drake! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jordan Timmons! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Drake looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Timmons doesn't manage to clinch there - Drake circles away.
Timmons tries to close the distance and clinch up but Drake swats him away and circles back towards the center. Timmons moves in looking to clinch but Drake pushes him off. Drake shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Drake misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Timmons stops Drake from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Timmons manages to regain half guard. Good work. Drake slows the pace down in half guard. Drake is working for a submission of some sort.
Drake works his way into side control. Timmons is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drake tries to score with some ground and pound. Timmons controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Drake is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Timmons has escaped the position, nice work there. Timmons tries to get back to half guard but can't. Drake is looking for a kimura. Timmons is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Drake yanks on the arm and Timmons is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Drake.
