Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sean Cable!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lerba Schmeizel!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Albert Achterberg and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cable has his takedown stuffed
and Schmeizel counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Cable dives in and grabs Schmeizel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Schmeizel pushes down on Cable's head and hops out.
Cable tries a head kick but it misses.

Cable scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Cable is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Schmeizel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cable tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Schmeizel is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The ground and pound from Cable seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Schmeizel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cable. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cable is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Schmeizel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cable has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Schmeizel is pushing Cable's head away, looking to escape. Cable manages to hold on to the position though.

Cable tries for a kimura but Schmeizel is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cable cracks Schmeizel with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Schmeizel pushes Cable away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Cable gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Cable is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Schmeizel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Schmeizel is trying to get back to his feet.
Cable works to advance to full mount. Schmeizel defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Schmeizel is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Cable is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Cable extends the arm and Schmeizel is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sean Cable!
After the fight, Sean Cable was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
