PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cliff Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mahdi Makungu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Makungu has chosen Nelly - Heart of a Champion as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Makungu misses with the combination.
Makungu changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
A good leg kick by Harris.
Makungu throws a jab when Harris was well out of range.

Harris moves forwards but Makungu connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Makungu drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Harris wants to control but Makungu postures up.
Makungu lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Makungu is looking to take a break and control but Harris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Harris is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Makungu is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Makungu thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Makungu takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Makungu unloads with some shots from mount but Harris bucks and avoids them well.

Makungu throws out a loose jab but Harris uses good head movement to avoid it.

Makungu closes the distance and pushes Harris back into the cage.

Makungu bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Harris's guard.

Harris is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Makungu works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Makungu is stalling here. Harris is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Makungu seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Harris has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cliff Harris will probably get the nod.

Makungu chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Harris can pounce on him.

Makungu looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Harris with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well Makungu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
