Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis comes to the cage accompanied by 6 Pounds of Sound. Johnson has chosen lunatic fringe as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jason Ellis has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Ellis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Johnson! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson shoots in for a double leg but Ellis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Johnson doesn't manage to clinch there - Ellis circles away.
Johnson avoids the head kick by Ellis.
Ellis connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Ellis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ellis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ellis tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ellis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Johnson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Jason Ellis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Johnson. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by Ellis. No luck for Johnson with that takedown attempt. Johnson looks gassed! Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Ellis shows good takedown defense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson drops his hands momentarily and Ellis takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Ellis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Ellis as Johnson shoots in. Johnson shoots in but Ellis avoids the takedown attempt easily. Ellis throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Johnson's head. Ellis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Ellis persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing. Ellis tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Johnson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ellis. Ellis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Johnson was covering up waiting for the punch and Ellis finishes the takedown easily into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Ellis tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Ellis from controlling successfully. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth. Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ellis's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Ellis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ellis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him. Johnson looking to pass the guard. Ellis wants to stand up but Johnson is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Johnson throws a big right hand that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ellis tries to land a sweep but no joy. Johnson scoring with punches to the head and body. Ellis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ellis wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it. Johnson lands a couple of elbows. Johnson's corner is telling him to maintain position. Johnson stands and throws Ellis's legs to the side, diving into side control. Johnson working the head with strikes. Ellis being controlled for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ellis is trying to control Johnson's posture but Johnson avoids it. Johnson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ellis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ellis keeps working. Johnson cracks Ellis with a big right hand but Ellis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ellis! Johnson working away from the top, dropping strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Michael Johnson will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ellis throws a leg kick but Johnson sees it coming and checks it nicely. Johnson shoots for a takedown but Ellis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Johnson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ellis's guard. Johnson wants to control from the top but Ellis keeps moving. Michael Johnson has got the better of the ground game so far. Johnson cracks Ellis with a solid left hand. Ellis throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ellis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Johnson is stalling in the full guard. Johnson working some strikes from top position.

Johnson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Ellis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Ellis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Johnson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ellis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Horrible takedown by Ellis or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad. Ellis swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Johnson. Jason Ellis is winning the standup battle so far. Johnson fails with the takedown. Ellis takes the fight into the clinch. Johnson can't get the takedown.

Ellis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ellis wants it to stay on the feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ellis lands a high kick!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Johnson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ellis to the ground. Johnson is now in Ellis's guard. Johnson passes Ellis's left leg - he's now in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jason Ellis will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Ellis moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Nice takedown defense from Ellis. No joy for Johnson on that attempt. Horrible takedown by Ellis or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad. Johnson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Ellis taking shots to the head. Johnson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ellis can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Johnson controlling his opponent. Johnson looking for a guillotine from mount but Ellis is having none of it. Michael Johnson really dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. Ellis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ellis has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.

Ellis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ellis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Johnson has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ellis should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Johnson has tightened it up now! Ellis should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

A very excited looking Michael Johnson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet.
