The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Redd.
Redd pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Redd slaps away a takedown attempt from Newman, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Redd, right into the meat.
Some wild striking there from Newman.
Good leg kick by Redd there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Newman drives through with a takedown into guard.
Newman prevents Redd from getting back to his feet.
Redd looking to hit a scissor sweep but Newman is one step ahead there.
Redd is pulling down on Newman's head. It's preventing any offense from Newman, at least for the moment.
Newman won't allow Redd to get back to his feet.

Redd throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Newman's head.
Newman misses the jab.
Newman looks to land a right hand but Redd moved out of range.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Redd, right into the meat.
Newman shoots for a takedown but Redd saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Newman throws a shot from downtown. Redd moves away and avoids it.
Redd fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Redd scoring well with a low kick there.
Redd lands with a kick to the temple. Newman shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

It looks like Ali Newman has been cut.

Newman on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Redd. Redd obviously looking to wear him down.
Silas Redd is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Redd dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Newman. That did some damage!
Redd scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Ali Newman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Redd bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Newman's head.
Newman has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Redd.
Redd throws a head kick that misses.

A nice inside leg kick there by Redd. That's going to slow Newman down.
Newman misses with a jab, cross combination.

Redd keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Newman on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Newman takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Redd lands a hook that stumbles Newman back into the cage. Redd follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Newman to the canvas! Redd pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Newman has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
