Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Borovy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Parsons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Borovy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Parsons!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Borovy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Parsons to the mat! Parsons manages to get full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Borovy controlling from the top position.
Borovy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Parsons tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Borovy is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Borovy won't allow Parsons to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Sergei Borovy just wasn't active enough.

Borovy fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Parsons to the ground. Borovy is now in Parsons's guard.

Parsons changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Borovy tries to avoid it but Parsons manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Borovy to the ground. Borovy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Borovy is pushing down on Parsons's leg trying to pass to half guard. Parsons is fighting to maintain full guard but Borovy has managed to sneak the leg through.

Parsons has control of Borovy's left arm, preventing Borovy from doing any damage.
Parsons can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Borovy controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sergei Borovy wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Borovy takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Borovy scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Parsons is trying to stand.
Borovy keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Borovy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Sergei Borovy has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Borovy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Parsons tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Borovy is in Parsons's guard.
Parsons is looking to stand up but Borovy isn't so interested in that idea.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Parsons looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Borovy is fending him off so far but Parsons persists. Nope, Borovy circles away and we're back to standing.
Parsons shoots in for a takedown but Borovy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Parsons shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Borovy defends it nicely.
Sergei Borovy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Parsons.

Borovy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Parsons drops back, looking for a kneebar! Borovy looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Borovy looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Borovy!

Borovy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Parsons keeps working.
Parsons tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Parsons is being controlled here.
Parsons is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Parsons is trying to buck Borovy off.
Parsons can't do much from the bottom here.
Borovy is staying tight to Parsons's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Borovy wants to control but Parsons is keeping him busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

We're going to have a standup here because Sergei Borovy wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Parsons throws a combination. Borovy tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sergei Borovy will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Borovy is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Parsons will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Borovy tries to advance to mount but can't.
Parsons is looking for a sweep.
Borovy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Parsons keeps working.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Borovy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Parsons is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sergei Borovy wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Borovy closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Parsons quickly recovers to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Borovy is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Borovy cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Parsons is in a horrible position here. Borovy smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Parsons is pressing down on Borovy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Parsons avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Parsons is looking to stand up but Borovy isn't so interested in that idea.
Parsons not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Borovy working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Parsons's head.
Borovy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Borovy seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Parsons for as long as he can get away with.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Borovy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Borovy lands in his opponent's guard.
Parsons is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Borovy is controlling him.
Borovy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Borovy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
