Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cody Harlow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Fort Minor - Remember the name kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cody Harlow! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Griffin! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harlow connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Griffin's hands.
Griffin is rocked! Harlow feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Griffin is still in real trouble! Can Harlow finish him? Harlow scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Harlow passes easily into side control. Nice work. Harlow is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Griffin has escaped the position, nice work there. Harlow tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harlow has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Harlow thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Griffin seems to have recovered his senses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harlow working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Griffin is looking to regain half guard here but Harlow keeps moving and retains side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Harlow tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Griffin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Harlow is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Griffin works his way to full guard. Good work. Harlow seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Harlow stopping the sweep attempt from Griffin. Griffin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Griffin keeping moving, preventing Harlow from controlling successfully. Harlow postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Griffin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Harlow, into his guard. Harlow thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Griffin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Griffin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Harlow looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Harlow looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Harlow! Harlow passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Griffin! Harlow trying to control but he's not successful this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cody Harlow dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Harlow shoots in but no luck this time. Griffin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Harlow wants to control but Griffin postures up. Griffin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Harlow knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Harlow is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Griffin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Griffin tries to stand but can't do so whilst Harlow controls his leg. Harlow looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Griffin pushes past his half guard into mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Harlow can't escape the position.
Harlow tries to lock up and control but Griffin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Harlow regains half guard. Harlow moves into full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Harlow looking to control.
Griffin throws a big right hand that misses. Harlow is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Harlow utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Harlow looking for a guillotine here but Griffin defends easily.
Griffin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harlow swivels though and keeps the full guard. Griffin trying to stand up but can't free himself from Harlow's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harlow is pulling down on Griffin's head to control his posture.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Harlow. Griffin misses with a few strikes there.
Harlow takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Griffin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Griffin showed some decent athleticism there. Harlow actively working from the bottom here. Harlow tries to roll over but Griffin keeps him under control. Griffin trying to control the action but Harlow is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harlow tries to get to full guard but Griffin has control of the leg. Griffin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The fighters are battling for position here. Harlow manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Griffin being controlled here momentarily. Harlow working a defensive guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Griffin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Harlow misses with a takedown attempt - Griffin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Griffin lands a nice shot to the body.
Griffin ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Griffin throws a hook to the side of Harlow's head but Harlow sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Griffin throws a low kick, looking for Harlow's leg but Harlow calmly moves out of range. Harlow gets caught flat footed, as Griffin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Griffin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Harlow trying to keep a closed guard but Griffin is proving a slippery customer.
Harlow has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Griffin has passed into side control.
Griffin trying to control the position but Harlow is working away. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harlow tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Harlow is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Harlow tries to reverse the position but Griffin maintains control. Cody Harlow overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Griffin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Harlow prevents Griffin from taking his back. Harlow is trying desperately to improve position. Harlow is working hard here to advance position. Griffin swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Harlow is now in Griffin's guard. A big mistake from Griffin there, giving up the dominant position! Harlow has gone for a leg lock! Griffin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Harlow's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harlow wants to hit a switch here but Griffin passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Harlow there! Harlow tries to lock up and control but Griffin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Harlow is looking to improve his position but Griffin isn't that keen on the idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Harlow sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Harlow is not content to let Griffin control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Joe Griffin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Griffin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
