PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frak Tura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Antonio Alves has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Antonio Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frak Tura!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tura drives through and clinches with Alves against the cage.

Tura manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Alves tries to free his leg and advance position but Tura is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tura is on top in guard.
Tura stands up over Alves, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Alves trying to keep a closed guard but Tura is proving a slippery customer.

Tura gets to his feet. Alves looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Tura is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Alves gets tackled into the cage by Tura. Tura maintains the clinch.
Alves is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Tura pulls him back up using the underhooks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alves pulls guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tura passes Alves's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Alves is trying to stand back up but Tura is controlling him
Tura is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Alves tries to roll over but Tura keeps him under control.
Tura passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Alves!
Tura avoids the attempt from Alves to control.
Alves keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tura lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Tura sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Alves on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Alves tries to get out of the position.
Tura landing strikes, looking to finish!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tura controlling the pace for now.

Tura working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Alves is desperately trying to improve his position but Tura has a good base and remains in mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tura controlling the position easily from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like Tura might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Tura stands up from mount. Strange move.
Tura tries to clinch but Alves is having none of it.
A lazy left from Alves finds it's target.
Alves fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tura manages to avoid it.
Tura tries to clinch there but Alves circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tura misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Alves.
Tura takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Tura dodges the punch combination from Alves.
Tura takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Alves throws out a powerful jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alves thows a body shot but no joy.
Tura bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Alves moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Tura shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alves but Alves pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tura moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frak Tura dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Alves connects with a good right hand that stumbles Tura. Tura circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Alves misses with a looping right.
A punch combination from Alves misses.
Tura tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alves paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tura fails with an attempt to clinch.
Tura has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Tura tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alves swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Tura has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Tura there as he acknowledges the shot.
Tura gets cracked there but stands up to it.


It looks like Frak Tura has been cut.
Tura misses with a leg kick.
Alves lands the left hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tura throws a head kick that misses.
Alves really is a fat lump.
Alves fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Alves misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nice shot by Alves.
Alves scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Alves tests Tura's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Nice uppercut there from Alves.
Tura fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Tura is breathing heavily.
Alves connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alves keeping moving, preventing Tura from controlling successfully.

Alves is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Tura is stalling in the full guard.
Alves not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tura showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Frak Tura.
Alves throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tura closes the distance and clinches up with Alves, looking for a takedown. Tura pushes Alves against the cage but Alves circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Alves lands a jab to the head.
Alves throws a series of strikes that have Tura backpedaling.
Alves ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Alves lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Tura takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alves closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Alves lands with a good body shot.
Alves with a nice cross.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alves feints a jab promting Tura to slip. Alves then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Tura slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Tura has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Alves lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Alves throws a good cross that connects.
Alves changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Alves keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Alves lands with an overhand left.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Tura.
Antonio Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frak Tura.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A decent looking cross lands there for Alves.
Tura takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antonio Alves dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Frak Tura's cut.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Alves lands a left and a right that send Tura crashing to the mat, dazed. Alves thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Tura is rocked!
Antonio Alves is winning the standup battle so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alves lands with a straight right. Tura didn't see that one coming.
Tura is still on wobbly legs! Can Alves finish him?
Tura takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Alves misses with a double jab.
Tura throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tura tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alves sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tura somewhat.
Alves rushes Tura with punches - Tura moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Tura goes down! Alves follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Antonio Alves!
