Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Laden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kelly Long!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Long shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Laden's guard.
Longis looking to pass into half guard but Laden pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Laden is in guard.
Long looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Laden throwing strikes from guard but Long blocks nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laden in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Laden loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Laden trying to control the position from guard on top but Long is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Laden wants to pass the guard but Long is keeping the position.
Laden's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Jack Laden has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Laden fails with a takedown attempt.

Laden fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Long to the ground. Laden is now in Long's guard.

Long escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Laden gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Long thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Long lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Laden!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Long can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Laden is looking to escape.
Long tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Long lands a heavy elbow.
Laden might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Laden is desperately trying to improve his position but Long has a good base and remains in mount.
Long manages to capitalize on a mistake by Laden to take his back!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Laden turns into Long and is now in his guard.
Long is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Laden tries to roll over but Long keeps him under control.

Long is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Laden is just riding it out for now. Long eventually gives up the hold.

Laden is looking to control Long's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Laden avoid being mounted?
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kelly Long will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Laden blocks the body kick.
Laden shoots in looking for a takedown but Long manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Laden's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Laden blocks a head kick by Long.
Long moves in looking to clinch but Laden pushes him off.
Laden misses with a takedown
and Long counters with a one-two to the body.
Long swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Laden is desperately trying to improve his position but Long has a good base and remains in mount.
The referee warns Laden that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Laden tries to hold on but Long pushes him away.
Laden is in all sorts of trouble here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Laden is trying desperately to improve position.
Long putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Long working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Laden is looking to control Long's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Laden avoid being mounted?
Laden is staying active underneath Long, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Long is nestled in close to Laden, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Long is trying to work for a kimura but Laden is defending well.

Long is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Laden doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Long.
Long is trying to control the action in half guard but Laden is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Long is looking for a kimura but Laden is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Long to get the leverage.
Laden is looking to improve his position.
Laden is trying to stand up here but Long is controlling him well.
Long really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Laden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kelly Long showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Laden avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Laden fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Laden shoots in for a double leg but Long sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Laden tries for a takedown but Long sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Laden gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Long to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Long throwing hammer fists to the chest of Laden. What's that going to do exactly?

Laden goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Long is on top in guard.
Laden is trying to keep Long in close.
Long looking to sit in guard and control but Laden gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Long has control of Laden's left arm, preventing Laden from doing any damage.

Long has his foot on Laden's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Laden works his way back into a safe position though.

Still in half guard, Laden seems content to control.

Laden is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Long defends it well.
Laden wants to lay and pray for a moment but Long keeps working.

Laden is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Long is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Laden.
Well Long has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
