PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rocky King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nori Fukyomoma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fukyomoma comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kung Fu Fighting, Carl Douglas kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Nori Fukyomoma looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rocky King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nori Fukyomoma!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fukyomoma swats him away and circles back towards the center.
King shoots and misses
and Fukyomoma cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
King misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
King changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fukyomoma tries to avoid it but King manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fukyomoma to the ground. Fukyomoma escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Fukyomoma tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but King paws at him with a jab and circles away.

King closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
King really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fukyomoma is trying to get back to full guard.
King tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fukyomoma knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Fukyomoma is not content to let King control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Fukyomoma looks gassed!
Fukyomoma uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from King.

Fukyomoma shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. King is trying to defend but Fukyomoma finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Fukyomoma takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Fukyomoma wants to control but King is keeping him busy.
King has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fukyomoma is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

King kicks Fukyomoma off and gets to his feet.

Fukyomoma throws an overhand right that lands on King's shoulder, as King tries to avoid the shot.
King fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rocky King. That's going to take a lot out of him.

King rushes Fukyomoma and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

King escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
King fails with a takedown attempt.
King shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fukyomoma as he jumps to the side.

Fukyomoma tries to clinch there but King circles away.
King throws a series of punches but Fukyomoma moves out of range.
Fukyomoma blocks a head kick by King.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fukyomoma avoids the head kick by King.
Fukyomoma displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from King.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rocky King dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


King shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fukyomoma pinned against the cage. Fukyomoma gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rocky King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fukyomoma is fending him off so far but King persists. Nope, Fukyomoma circles away and we're back to standing.

King instigates a clinch.

King pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sloppy strikes from King. Those never looked like landing.
King throws a head kick but Fukyomoma moves out of range.

King shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fukyomoma as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rocky King. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King has his takedown stuffed
and Fukyomoma counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

King scores a takedown into full mount!
Fukyomoma is bucking up trying to escape but King cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

King looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
King tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

King goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Fukyomoma turns into him and now he's in King's guard.
Fukyomoma tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.
Fukyomoma prevents King from getting back to his feet.
King will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fukyomoma is fighting to break King's control of his arms but King is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Fukyomoma is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Fukyomoma trying to control but King is working from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nori Fukyomoma hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
King shoots in looking for a takedown but Fukyomoma manages to keep the fight standing, pushing King's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
King looks to clinch
and Fukyomoma cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
King tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fukyomoma manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
King fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Fukyomoma moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
King shoots in but no luck this time.

and Fukyomoma counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rocky King dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!

King keeps the fight on the outside.
King looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

King shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fukyomoma as he avoids it easily.
Horrible takedown by King or perhaps it was just good defense by Fukyomoma which made him look bad.

King throws a combination. Fukyomoma tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

King is looking to clinch but Fukyomoma is avoiding it.
King tries for a takedown but Fukyomoma sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
King shoots in but Fukyomoma avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fukyomoma stalks King and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into King's face. King staggers backwards, shaken.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rocky King.
Well King has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Rocky King misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
