Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnson McDiggler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stan Stainz! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stainz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McDiggler paws at him with a jab and circles away. McDiggler scores with a takedown into Stainz's guard. McDiggler throws a big elbow that misses. Stainz trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McDiggler prevents Stainz from getting back to his feet. McDiggler throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stainz works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Stainz seems keen to control McDiggler's posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Stan Stainz hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. McDiggler shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. McDiggler throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. McDiggler thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. McDiggler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Stainz wants to control but McDiggler is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stainz is looking to escape. McDiggler is nestled in close to Stainz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. McDiggler scoring with strikes to the body and head. Stainz on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Stainz is trying to stand.
McDiggler landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Stainz tries to roll over but McDiggler keeps him under control. McDiggler drops an elbow to the side of Stainz's head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McDiggler not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Stainz on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. McDiggler wants to free his trapped foot but Stainz is holding on for dear life with his legs. McDiggler missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Stainz has hold of McDiggler's hands but McDiggler slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Stainz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McDiggler scores with a couple of nice shots.
Stainz is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stainz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Stainz is still in real trouble! Can McDiggler finish him? McDiggler winds up and cracks Stainz with a swinging punch to the side of the head. McDiggler scores with a big shot! Stainz's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Stainz! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnson McDiggler! Johnson McDiggler tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
