Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gregorius Mathikis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Charles Win! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Win tries to clinch but Mathikis moves out of range. Mathikis darts in trying to clinch and Win counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Gregorius Mathikis has been cut. Win avoids the head kick by Mathikis.
Win gets tackled into the cage by Mathikis. Mathikis maintains the clinch. Mathikis works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Mathikis trying to control the position from guard on top but Win is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Win scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Mathikis blocks a head kick by Win.
Mathikis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Win drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. You can see the frustration on Mathikis's face as Win controls the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Win stands up. Nice takedown defense from Win. No joy for Mathikis on that attempt. Win looks for a takedown but Mathikis sprawls well. Win closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Win lands in his opponent's guard. Win pushes down on Mathikis's leg and manages to get into half guard. Win stops Mathikis from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Win maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Mathikis could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Win has cracked it and Mathikis is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Win!
