Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jon Jones ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tawi Ebana! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Ebana fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away. Ebana keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ebana misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ebana was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Ebana had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily. Jones wants to stand but Ebana is controlling his posture from full guard. Ebana throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ebana keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Ebana manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ebana looking to control but Jones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jones avoids a series of strikes thrown by Ebana.
Ebana looking for a guillotine from mount but Jones is having none of it. Jones keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ebana working for a guillotine from mount but Jones is in no mood to give up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ebana is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jones can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ebana with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Jones is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ebana moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jones has worked his arm free - good work by Jones !
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ebana tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ebana tries to advance to mount but Jones instead regains half guard. Ebana is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Ebana is working for a submission of some sort.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones is defending against the submission attempts here by Ebana.
Ebana is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ebana is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jones sees it coming and defends easily. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ebana is working away from the top position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tawi Ebana dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Ebana circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ebana shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ebana's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Ebana looks for a takedown but Jones sprawls well. Jones misses with the combination.
Jones clinches up with Ebana and pushes him back against the cage. Ebana tries to pull guard but Jones forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Jon Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tawi Ebana. Jones is pressed up against the cage. Ebana has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jones down to the mat. Jones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Ebana shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jones shoots in and drives through. Ebana sprawls well. Ebana shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side. Ebana tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes. Ebana is breathing heavily. Ebana misses with a takedown attempt and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Ebana backing up. Ebana nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Jones has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ebana clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Ebana can't escape the position.
Ebana wants to control his opponent's hands but Jones gets his hands free. Jones keeps control of the position as Ebana tries to break free.
Ebana is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jones is riding his opponent, not letting Ebana buck him off. Ebana tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ebana is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ebana looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Ebana tries to escape but Jones has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Jones patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? I really don't envy Ebana right now.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones doesn't have the hooks in and Ebana manages to turn into his guard.
Ebana passes Jones 's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Jones is trying to control but can't.
Ebana is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Ebana is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ebana to get the leverage. Ebana wants to work for an arm triangle but Jones is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Ebana looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jones wants to sweep but Ebana has passed to side control! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Ebana is working to tighten is grip on Jones 's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Jones has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ebana is really squeezing tight and eventually Jones passes out! Ebana breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
