Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phil Dirks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Morales! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dirks swinging wilding here.

Dirks takes the fight into the clinch. Morales is looking to break free of the clinch but Dirks has double underhooks. Dirks manages to break the clinch.
Morales closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Morales lands in his opponent's guard. Dirks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Morales scoring with punches to the head and body. Morales has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Morales trying to control the position from guard on top but Dirks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dirks is working an open guard so Morales takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Excellent takedown into side control there by Dirks. Dirks decides to stand back up. Dirks smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Dirks pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morales stuffs the takedown. Morales on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Morales tries to clinch but Dirks moves away and Dirks holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Morales breaks the clinch.
Dirks avoids the head kick by Morales.
Dirks with a poor takedown and Morales counters with a body kick that stops Dirks in his tracks momentarily. Dirks shoots and misses and Morales counters by moving into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil Dirks. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dirks is breathing heavily. Morales is looking to break free of the clinch but Dirks has double underhooks. Morales is trying to break the clinch but Dirks has him pressed against the cage. Dirks trying to land knees to the body.
Morales gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Morales is trying to break free. Morales wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Morales changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dirks fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Dirks moves into the clinch. Morales is looking to control Dirks's arms but Dirks gets an underhook and turns him. Now Morales has his back to the cage. Dirks looking for a takedown. Dirks tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Morales smiles and moves away.
Dirks shoots for a double leg takedown but Morales sprawls well. He's pushed Dirks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morales throws a left and a right that both miss
and Dirks counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Dirks gets underhooks to prevent Morales's takedown attempt.
Dirks keeps control of Morales as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Dirks slows down the pace here.

Dirks breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Morales lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Dirks looks to land a left hand but Morales moved out of range nicely. Dirks wants to clinch. Morales darts in trying to clinch letting Dirks counter with a right hand. Morales misses with a combination
and Dirks moves into the clinch. Dirks pulls guard effortlessly. Dirks looking to control.
Morales looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Dirks has a closed guard, preventing Morales from standing up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dirks looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Morales postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Dirks keeping moving, preventing Morales from controlling successfully. Morales landing some decent shots from guard. Morales should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Dirks working a defensive guard here.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Morales blocks a head kick by Dirks.
Dirks dodges the punch combination from Morales.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Dirks. Dirks closes the distance and clinches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Morales misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Dirks stalling in the clinch.
Dirks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dirks drops Morales with a left right combo! Dirks follows him down to the ground into side control.
Morales is rocked! Dirks controlling from side mount. Dirks stands up. Dirks shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Dirks tries for a takedown but Morales circles away easily and Morales counters with a head kick. Morales looks for a takedown but Dirks sprawls well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The fight stays on the outside here - Dirks looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Dirks forces Morales back against the cage and clinches. Morales wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Phil Dirks dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Morales misses with a combination
and Dirks counters with a head kick that drops Morales - he's looking to finish, following his stunned foe to the ground! Morales is still in real trouble! Can Dirks finish him? Dirks gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Dirks lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Morales is looking to close the distance but Dirks sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Morales crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Morales is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
