Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Jebediah Reed! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Mr Red! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reed keeps the fight on the outside. Jebediah Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Reed misses with a hook. Reed misses with a body shot.
Red moves away from the strike by Reed. Reed uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Red.
Nice cross by Red. Jab, jab by Red - just one landing. Reed throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Reed takes a body punch but keeps moving. Red scores with a jab to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Red fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reed sprawls well initially but Red persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Reed wants to get back to his feet. Red trying to control the action but Reed is working from the bottom. Red working over Reed with some ground and pound. Reed looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Red not landing any meaningful shots this time. Red not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Reed is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Red thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reed's head. Reed actively working from the bottom here. Red looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Reed with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Red is working for a submission of some sort.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Red lands a nice short elbow. Red tries to pass the half guard into mount. Reed knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Red throwing shots but Reed is blocking nicely. Red moves into full mount! Reed won't be happy about that! Red lands a nice shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Red with the ground and pound from mount. Reed is trying desperately to improve position. Red looking to control but Reed is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Red looking to finish Reed with some ground and pound. This is bad for Reed!
Reed is rocked! Whack. That's a big, big shot from Red! Reed is out cold! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mr Red! Mr Red retains his super heavyweight title!
