Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Walter Murch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Barry McCockiner! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCockiner thumps Murch with a low kick. McCockiner tries to clinch up but Murch circles away and keeps his distance. Murch tries to keep at a distance but McCockiner has taken the fight into the clinch. Murch fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Murch blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. McCockiner lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like Walter Murch has been cut. McCockiner comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Murch jumps guard but McCockiner stands there with Murch around his waist. Murch gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Murch tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Walter Murch. That's going to take a lot out of him. McCockiner lands an elbow that stopped Murch in his tracks for a moment. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A frustrated look appears on Murch's face as he tries to break the clinch. McCockiner lands a damaging elbow.
Walter Murch's cut is getting worse. Both fighters working to control the clinch. McCockiner lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Murch blocks an elbow strike from McCockiner.
