PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Boss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kiba Hyuga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hunter Boss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kiba Hyuga!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyuga is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Boss.
Boss throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hyuga's waist but Hyuga gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boss off to one side.
Boss could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hyuga throws a lazy uppercut
and Boss counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Hyuga shoots in and bounces Boss off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Boss scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.

Hyuga gets to his feet - Boss follows without any prompting.

Hyuga is trying to trip Boss. He has hold of a leg but Boss is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hyuga persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Boss is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hyuga defends well.
Hyuga is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Boss is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hyuga is controlling him.

Hyuga drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Boss manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hyuga has Boss in his guard.

Boss feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hyuga is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Hyuga has picked Boss up - he's going for a ride! Hyuga dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Hyuga seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Let's hope that Hyuga has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hyuga connects with a nice short shot to Boss's temple.

Hyuga wants the takedown. Boss is fighting it off but Hyuga persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Boss's guard against the cage.

Hyuga throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Boss counters with a single leg into guard. Hyuga didn't expect that.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hyuga throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Boss tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hyuga is in Boss's guard.

Boss jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hyuga walks away with a smile on his face. Boss gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Hyuga throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Boss sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hyuga lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hyuga missing with a left hand there. Boss was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Hyuga has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Boss is trying to keep an underhook but Hyuga manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hyuga in particular looking to stall.

Well Hyuga has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
