Sullivan lands a nice shot to the body.
Sullivan scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Kurze misses with a body shot
and Sullivan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kurze misses with a wild body shot.
Kurze slips a jab and a cross from Sullivan.
Sullivan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kurze manages to avoid it.
Sullivan tests Kurze's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Sullivan misses with a left hand
and Kurze counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sullivan thinking.
Kurze takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sullivan lands with an uppercut that bounces Kurze off the cage and back into range.
Sullivan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kurze.
Sullivan connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Kurze is rocked!
Sullivan is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Kurze glances at the clock... BAM! Sullivan nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Kurze crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Kurze is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sammy Sullivan! Sammy Sullivan retains his lightweight title!
