Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ismail Bakirtel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rauan Diaz! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bakirtel showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Diaz.
Diaz throws a head kick that misses and Bakirtel counters with a left to the body. Bakirtel drives through and clinches with Diaz against the cage.
Diaz comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. A frustrated look appears on Diaz's face as he tries to break the clinch. Diaz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bakirtel avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Bakirtel tries to pull guard but Diaz won't allow it.
Bakirtel turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bakirtel manages to end up in side control. Bakirtel just content to control the position. Diaz wants to control but Bakirtel postures up. Bakirtel passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Diaz! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bakirtel controlling the pace for now. Bakirtel looking to finish Diaz with some ground and pound. This is bad for Diaz!
That's one minute gone in the round. Bakirtel sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Diaz is in all sorts of trouble here.
Bakirtel has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Diaz's face.

Diaz looks gassed! Bakirtel landing strikes from the mount. Bakirtel raining down shots from the mount! Bakirtel controlling the position easily from mount. Bakirtel scoring with strikes but Diaz is staying in there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bakirtel has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Bakirtel connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying desperately to improve position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bakirtel putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Diaz is trying to escape the mount.
Diaz regains half guard. Bakirtel missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bakirtel is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Diaz wants to control but Bakirtel is keeping busy and won't allow it. Diaz tries to get to full guard but Bakirtel has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bakirtel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bakirtel lands in his opponent's guard. Bakirtel chips away with some ground and pound. Bakirtel leaves Diaz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Bakirtel paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Bakirtel closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Diaz quickly recovers to half guard. Diaz on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Bakirtel sitting and controlling from the half guard. Bakirtel decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Bakirtel doesn't manage to clinch there - Diaz circles away.
Rauan Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bakirtel scores with a takedown into Diaz's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bakirtel sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Diaz's guard. Diaz wants to improve his position but Bakirtel is controlling well.
Bakirtel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Diaz tries to roll over but Bakirtel keeps him under control. Bakirtel stands up from half guard. Bakirtel clinches up with Diaz and pushes him back against the cage. Bakirtel breaks from the clinch.

Bakirtel seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Bakirtel looking to pass the guard. Bakirtel showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Bakirtel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Diaz can do to turn this around? Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bakirtel is aware though and is defending well. Bakirtel stands up from Diaz's guard - Bakirtel perhaps looking for a knockout.

Diaz is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Bakirtel to keep the fight standing. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Bakirtel obliges. Bakirtel is trying to trip Diaz. He has hold of a leg but Diaz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bakirtel persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Bakirtel postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bakirtel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now. Bakirtel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Bakirtel slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bakirtel gets to his feet - Diaz follows without any prompting. Bakirtel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Bakirtel is staying tight to Diaz's torso, preventing him from escaping. Diaz wants to control but Bakirtel postures up. Diaz manages to get back to half guard. Ground and pound from Bakirtel. Still in half guard, Bakirtel seems content to control. Bakirtel is thwarting Diaz's attempts to control the position. Diaz is defending against the submission attempts here by Bakirtel.
Bakirtel is trying to control. Diaz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Diaz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Well, if Bakirtel is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Bakirtel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bakirtel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz keeping full guard, as Bakirtel tries to pass. Bakirtel passes Diaz's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Diaz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bakirtel scores with a couple of nice shots. Bakirtel escapes and gets back to his feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bakirtel shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Diaz napping and manages to drive through into side control! Diaz is being controlled here. Diaz is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bakirtel remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Diaz is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Diaz being controlled for a moment. Bakirtel is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Diaz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. What's Diaz going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle. Diaz is not content to let Bakirtel control the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bakirtel decides to take the fight back to the feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Ismail Bakirtel showed his dominance in that final round. Well Bakirtel has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
