The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kovacs doesn't succeed with the takedown so Tyson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Tyson working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Tyson advances to half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Kovacs manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Kovacs has his foot on Tyson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tyson works his way back into a safe position though. Tyson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. This has been an exciting period of action! Kovacs keeping full guard, as Tyson tries to pass. Kovacs had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tyson defends it easily. Tyson trying to control but Kovacs is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kovacs is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Tyson is concentrating on defense, preventing Kovacs from advancing position. Tyson tries to get to full guard but Kovacs has control of the leg. Kovacs keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Kovacs is looking to take a break and control but Tyson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kovacs is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Kovacs is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Tyson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tyson tries to get out of the position. Tyson wants to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kovacs works his way into side control. Rage Tyson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Tyson wants to control from the top but Kovacs keeps moving. Tyson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kovacs is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Tyson has his hands clasped together but Kovacs extends an breaks Tyson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kovacs.
