Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mark Kuusela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Skjelbred (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skjelbred has chosen Bad To The Bone as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. John Skjelbred told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Kuusela! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Skjelbred! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kuusela gets tackled into the cage by Skjelbred. Skjelbred maintains the clinch. Skjelbred wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Kuusela tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Kuusela misses with a hook from the clinch. Kuusela tries to work over Skjelbred's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Kuusela tries to throw a body punch but Skjelbred avoids it by throwing Kuusela back against the cage. Skjelbred pulls guard successfully.

Skjelbred bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kuusela's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Skjelbred drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Skjelbred jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Skjelbred looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Skjelbred stands up over Kuusela, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Kuusela keeping moving, preventing Skjelbred from controlling successfully. Skjelbred is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Skjelbred advances to half guard. Kuusela on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kuusela tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Skjelbred is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kuusela defends it well. Skjelbred not landing any meaningful shots this time. Skjelbred is looking to take a break and control but Kuusela is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Skjelbred is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kuusela has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skjelbred is trying to control. Kuusela wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Skjelbred is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Skjelbred trying to control from half guard but Kuusela is working away.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Skjelbred wasn't active enough on the ground. Skjelbred with a hook. Kuusela tries to clinch up. Skjelbred moves into the clinch successfully.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Skjelbred is pulling down on Kuusela's head. It's preventing any offense from Kuusela, at least for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kuusela lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Skjelbred. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Skjelbred shoots in for a takedown but Kuusela shows good takedown defense. Kuusela tries to clinch but Skjelbred is having none of it. Skjelbred rushes Kuusela and presses him up against the cage. A bit of stalling here from Skjelbred.
Skjelbred creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Kuusela tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Kuusela misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Kuusela stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Kuusela lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Skjelbred backwards. Skjelbred manages to break the clinch.
Skjelbred rushes Kuusela and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kuusela misses with a hook to the ribs.

Skjelbred is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Kuusela struggles to land a body shot inside as Skjelbred controls his hands.

Skjelbred turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Skjelbred manages to end up in side control. Skjelbred is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kuusela has escaped the position, nice work there. Skjelbred in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Kuusela is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
