Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Santiago Alvares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jamie Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Alvares gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Alvares is working an open guard so Wallace takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Wallace misses with a low kick as Alvares jumps back.
Alvares throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wallace.
Wallace tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Alvares wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Alvares throws a right and a left that both miss.

Alvares shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Wallace manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wallace can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wallace wants to stand and escape but Alvares is having none of it.

Alvares is looking to work some ground and pound but Wallace has wrist control.
Wallace wants to sweep here but Alvares controlling him for the moment.
Alvares looking to sit in guard and control but Wallace gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alvares is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Wallace postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alvares is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wallace, into his guard.

Wallace escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alvares gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Wallace wants to sweep but no luck.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Wallace holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jamie Wallace was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Wallace throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Alvares tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wallace sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alvares somewhat.

Alvares is looking to work some ground and pound but Wallace has wrist control.
Alvares postures up in Wallace's guard and throws a big left but Wallace blocks it.

Alvares wanted to stand there but Wallace had control of the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wallace is on top in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wallace lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wallace wants to control from the top but Alvares keeps moving.

Alvares pushes Wallace off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Santiago Alvares will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Wallace throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alvares's waist but Alvares gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wallace off to one side.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alvares accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Alvares passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Alvares connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Wallace some visible discomfort.

Alvares leaves Wallace with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Wallace shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Alvares is in all sorts of trouble here.

Alvares wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Wallace controlling the position well here. Alvares rolled but Wallace kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Wallace has the hooks in. Alvares is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
