PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Forbes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alaska Winterstorm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Forbes kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Israels Son. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Forbes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alaska Winterstorm!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winterstorm throws a left and a right that both miss

and Forbes counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Winterstorm!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Forbes avoids the attempt from Winterstorm to control.

Forbes moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Winterstorm has worked his arm free - good work by Winterstorm!
Winterstorm prevents Forbes from improving position.

Forbes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Winterstorm holding on.
Winterstorm wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Forbes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Winterstorm knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Forbes throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Forbes is looking to take a break and control but Winterstorm is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Forbes fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Forbes wants to control but Winterstorm is keeping him busy.
Forbes tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Winterstorm is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Winterstorm keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Forbes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Winterstorm moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Forbes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Winterstorm is keeping the position for now.

Winterstorm throws his legs up looking for a submission but Forbes uses it to pass to side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Forbes wants to control for a moment but Winterstorm uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Winterstorm won't allow Forbes to pass to mount.

Forbes stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Winterstorm to get to his feet.

Forbes closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Winterstorm to the mat! Winterstorm manages to get full guard.
Winterstorm is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Winterstorm controlling the action here.

Winterstorm is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Forbes defends it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Forbes wants to improve his position but Winterstorm is controlling well.

Forbes looking for submissions off his back.
Forbes is looking to improve his position.
Forbes is looking to control Winterstorm's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Forbes avoid being mounted?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Winterstorm content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Forbes dominated that round.

Forbes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Winterstorm sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Forbes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Alaska Winterstorm has been cut.
Winterstorm tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Forbes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Forbes throws a leg kick which misses Winterstorm's front leg but catches the back leg as Winterstorm tries to avoid it.
Winterstorm throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Forbes counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Winterstorm is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Forbes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Forbes's back!

Winterstorm sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Forbes taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Alaska Winterstorm!
Alaska Winterstorm decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
