PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Schulte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eugene Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Lee's choice of entrance music: In Da Club. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Schulte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eugene Lee!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lee tries to clinch there but Schulte circles away.
Schulte swats away the attempt to clinch by Lee.
Lee doesn't manage to clinch there - Schulte circles away.
Schulte misses with the combination.
Schulte throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lee misses with a low kick.
Lee moves away from the strike by Schulte.
Lee takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Lee moves in looking to clinch but Schulte pushes him off.
Lee takes a swing at Schulte's ribcage but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee pushes Schulte up against the cage in a clinch.
Schulte managing to block the knees to the body from Lee.
A short left from Lee.
Schulte tries for a takedown. No joy.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Lee.
Lee cracks Schulte with a nice body shot.

Lee is leaning against Schulte and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Lee throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Schulte blocking some punches.
Schulte tries to score a body lock takedown but Lee shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Lee fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Schulte pulls guard effortlessly.
Schulte trying to control the position.

Schulte escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Schulte controls Lee momentarily but Lee frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Schulte manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Schulte working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Schulte controlling the pace for now.

Schulte goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lee is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Schulte escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Lee controlling from the top position.

Schulte looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but Schulte is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Schulte working a defensive guard here.
Schulte is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lee is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Schulte tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Lee goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Lee with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Lee. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Lee tries to clinch up but Schulte circles away and keeps his distance.
Schulte getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Schulte lands with a hook. Lee tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Lee fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Schulte swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lee misses with a two punch combination.
Lee tries to clinch there but Schulte circles away.

Schulte fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lee sprawls well initially but Schulte persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Schulte seems to be looking for submissions.

Schulte seems to be working for a kimura but Lee defends the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lee is looking for a sweep. Schulte is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schulte thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lee's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schulte wants to free his trapped foot but Lee is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schulte. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Schulte is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Schulte looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Schulte paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Schulte fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lee clobbers Schulte with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Lee just misses with a punch to the body.
Schulte is looking to score with low kicks.
Lee is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Eugene Lee is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lee scores with a one two! Schulte had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Brian Schulte has been cut.
Schulte avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Brian Schulte is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lee tries to clinch up but Schulte circles away and keeps his distance.

Schulte shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Schulte looking to sit in guard and control but Lee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's time! Schulte's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Schulte stalks Lee and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lee's face. Lee staggers backwards, shaken.
Schulte circles away from the clinch attempt.
A shot to de liver by Lee. Beautiful body shot.
Lee tries to clinch there but Schulte circles away.

Schulte decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lee is refusing to be controlled, as Schulte sits in half guard.
Schulte looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Schulte prevents Lee from improving his position.

Schulte trying to control from Lee's half guard. Lee has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Schulte is looking to work some ground and pound but Lee has wrist control.
Schulte trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Schulte forces his way into half guard.
Schulte is pressing down on Lee's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lee is holding on for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Schulte slips a nice elbow through Lee's hands, connecting with Lee's forehead.
Schulte wants to free his trapped foot but Lee is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Lee controlling the position for now.

Lee is trying to stand up here but Schulte is controlling him well.

Schulte is looking for a kimura but Lee is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Schulte to get the leverage.
Schulte looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Schulte is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lee is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lee tries to clinch up.
Brian Schulte has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Schulte has Lee up against the cage in a clinch.
Lee lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Lee throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Lee misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Schulte.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Schulte takes an elbow to the temple.
Lee lands an elbow just above Schulte 's eye.
Schulte is working for takedown but Lee is calmly controlling the position for now.
Lee tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Schulte tries to pull guard but Lee won't allow it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brian Schulte showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lee has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
