Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johan Kool (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson has chosen Eye of the Tiger as his entrance music. Rocky Thompson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kool looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thompson is fending him off so far but Kool persists. Nope, Thompson circles away and we're back to standing.

Thompson tries to roll over but Kool keeps him under control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Thompson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Kool wants to clinch.
Thompson dives in and grabs Kool's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kool pushes down on Thompson's head and hops out.

Thompson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Thompson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kool tries to avoid it but Thompson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kool to the ground. Kool escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

so Kool counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kool slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kool content to control rather than advance.

Kool is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Thompson can't fight it off and eventually Kool manages to take the fight to the floor. Thompson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kool stands and throws Thompson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kool remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Thompson tries to bench press Kool off him but Kool keeps the position.
Kool remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Kool is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Kool extends the arm and Thompson is forced to tap!
