Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Storm Aurelius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinya Takata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Storm Aurelius! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shinya Takata! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck with that takedown attempt from Aurelius. Takata stuffs the takedown attempt from Aurelius. Aurelius gets slowly back to his feet. Takata shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Aurelius is trying to defend but Takata finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Aurelius actively working from the bottom here. Takata not landing any meaningful shots this time. Takata is looking to take a break and control but Aurelius is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Takata is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Takata throwing shots but Aurelius is blocking nicely. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Takata lands a nice short elbow. Takata really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aurelius. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Aurelius is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Aurelius looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Takata thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Aurelius's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aurelius is trying to stand up here but Takata is controlling him well. Takata not landing any meaningful shots this time. Takata is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Aurelius looking for submissions off his back. Takata lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Takata thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Takata connects with a nice short shot to Aurelius's temple. Takata working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Takata landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Takata wants to stand up but Aurelius has a hold of him and won't allow it. Aurelius looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takata looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Aurelius with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Aurelius looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Takata is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Aurelius actively working from the bottom here. Takata wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aurelius keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Takata working Aurelius over with strikes. Aurelius makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Shinya Takata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takata lands a jab to the head.
Takata shoots in looking for a takedown but Aurelius manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Takata's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Horrible takedown by Aurelius or perhaps it was just good defense by Takata which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Storm Aurelius. That's going to take a lot out of him. Takata thows a body shot but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takata lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Aurelius backs up against the cage.
Aurelius ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Takata lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Aurelius circles away quickly and effectively. Takata throws a right hand that Aurelius ducks under and follows up with a left that Aurelius also avoids with ease. Aurelius shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Takata pinned against the cage. Takata gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Takata throws a hook to the side of Aurelius's head but Aurelius sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Takata swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Aurelius slips a jab from Takata. Takata misses with a straight left. Takata misses with a straight right. Takata throws a right hand that misses
and Aurelius counters with a nice double leg into side control. Takata won't be happy with that. Aurelius tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aurelius working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Aurelius is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Takata has escaped the position, nice work there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Takata is looking for a sweep. Takata wants to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Aurelius is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Takata looks calm but he's in trouble here. Aurelius gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Takata is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Aurelius lets go of the hold and Takata can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Storm Aurelius!
