PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Kroepoek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephan Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kroepoek might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Escape from the Hostile. Kim has chosen Modestep - Feel good as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Kroepoek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stephan Kim!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim fails with a takedown attempt.
Kroepoek tries a head kick but it misses.
No luck for Kim with that takedown attempt.
Kim closes the distance and clinches up with Kroepoek, looking for a takedown. Kim pushes Kroepoek against the cage but Kroepoek circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Marco Kroepoek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephan Kim.

Kim is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kroepoek's half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Kim is working for a guillotine from mount but Kroepoek frees his head quite easily.

Kim takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kim won't let Kroepoek get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Kim is landing with some decent strikes but Kroepoek is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kroepoek wants to try and get back to his feet.
Kim has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Let's hope that Kim has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

It looks like Kim might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee warns Kroepoek that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A telegraphed right hand from Kim misses the target.

Kim has closed the distance and engaged Kroepoek in a clinch.
Kroepoek is trying to break the clinch but Kim has him pressed against the cage.
Kroepoek tries to stall but Kim uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Kim gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Kim controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kim stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kroepoek swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kim slips nicely into half guard.

Stephan Kim has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kim works his way into full mount!
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Kim. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Kroepoek is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Stephan Kim wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kroepoek throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kim's head.
No luck for Kim with that takedown attempt.

Kroepoek has managed to clinch.

Kim wants the takedown. Kroepoek is fighting it off but Kim persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kroepoek's guard against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Stephan Kim.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kim.
Kim is breathing heavily.
Kroepoek throws a head kick that half lands.
Kroepoek leaves Kim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Marco Kroepoek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephan Kim.

Kim keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kroepoek's efforts to push away.

Kim wants to control but Kroepoek is keeping him busy.
Kroepoek takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Kim prevents Kroepoek from escaping the position.

Kroepoek is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kim is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kim looking to control but instead Kroepoek has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Kroepoek is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephan Kim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Kim shoots in but Kroepoek avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kroepoek lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
No luck for Kim with that takedown attempt.
Kroepoek keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Kroepoek lands a big head kick that sends Kim to the canvas! Kroepoek follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marco Kroepoek!
A relieved looking Marco Kroepoek thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
