Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kengo Watanabe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sean Lawror! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lawror throws a nice head kick!
Lawror scores with a nice right hand.
Watanabe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lawror sprawls well. Lawror wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Watanabe gets slowly back to his feet. Watanabe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lawror but Lawror pushes him off and we're back to square one. Watanabe shoots for a double leg takedown but Lawror sprawls well. He's pushed Watanabe's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kengo Watanabe. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lawror misses with a hook. Watanabe ducked under it nicely. Watanabe walks into a jab. Watanabe takes a kick to the side of the head. Lawror misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Watanabe looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ground and pound from Watanabe. Lawror is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Watanabe scores with a couple of nice shots. Watanabe content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Watanabe seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lawror for as long as he can get away with. Watanabe wants to pass the guard but Lawror is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Watanabe is taking a breather. Lawror says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Lawror on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Lawror is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Watanabe pulls his head out easily. Watanabe lands a big elbow - Lawror is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Watanabe!
