PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Burlow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burlow has chosen Danzig-Trouble as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Burlow!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burlow scores with a kick to the body.

Burlow has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Payne regains guard immediately.
Payne keeping full guard, as Burlow tries to pass.

Payne has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burlow can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Burlow must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Burlow cracks Payne with a solid left hand.
Payne wants to sweep here but Burlow controlling him for the moment.
Burlow connects with a couple of short punches.

Burlow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Payne swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Burlow wants to stand but Payne has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Payne keeping moving, preventing Burlow from controlling successfully.

Payne is looking to improve his position but Burlow isn't that keen on the idea.

Burlow lands a big shot there that rocks Payne but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
BOOM! Burlow connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Mike Burlow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Payne smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Burlow throws a push kick but Payne slaps the foot to one side.

Burlow has managed to clinch.
Payne lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Burlow backwards.
Burlow prevents a body shot from Payne.

Payne has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Burlow clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Burlow is trying to stand back up.
Payne trying to control momentarily.

Burlow needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.
Burlow looking very determined here, making life difficult for Payne.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
You can see the frustration on Burlow's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Burlow is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Payne gets his way!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Burlow will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Burlow avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Burlow cracks Payne with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Max Payne.
I think Burlow has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
