Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zeth Saarsgard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Efrain Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Efrain Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Saarsgard! Sanchez controlling from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Saarsgard is working to get back to half guard.
Sanchez controlling the position easily from mount. It looks like Sanchez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Efrain Sanchez wasn't active enough on the ground. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Saarsgard is defended easily by Sanchez. Sanchez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Saarsgard's guard. Saarsgard throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Saarsgard tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sanchez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Saarsgard somewhat. Saarsgard fails with the takedown and Sanchez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zeth Saarsgard. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sanchez is working hard to pass the guard. OK we're going to have a standup here. Efrain Sanchez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Saarsgard shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sanchez as he avoids it easily. Sanchez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Saarsgard on his heels. He'll look to pass Saarsgard's guard now, I'm sure.

Saarsgard can't keep his opponent in guard - Sanchez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Sanchez keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Saarsgard tries to get to full guard but Sanchez has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saarsgard tries to bum rush Sanchez with a series of wild strikes but Sanchez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sanchez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Let's hope that Sanchez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
