Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brenno Penna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Headden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penna comes into the arena with APOCALYPSE NOW blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Headden. Those never looked like landing.
A nice inside leg kick there by Headden. That's going to slow Penna down.

Headden ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Headden looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Penna with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Headden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Penna has his foot on Headden's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Headden works his way back into a safe position though.
Headden stands up over Penna, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Headden working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Penna's head.

Penna closes the distance and clinches.
Penna has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Headden is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Headden gets through Penna's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Headden breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Headden tests Penna's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Headden scores with a jab to the body.
Headden fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Penna on the side of the head.
Penna doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Headden counters with a left to the body.
Headden is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Headden escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brenno Penna is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Penna sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Headden scores with a three punch combo!
The crowd cheers as Headden lands an impressive looking overhand right. Penna doesn't seem phased though.
Penna takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Headden closes the distance and pushes Penna back into the cage.

Still in the clinch, Headden scores with a nice short uppercut.
Headden stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
A nice right hand lands inside from Headden.
Headden lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Headden lands a right hand that snaps the head of Penna backwards.
Headden lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Penna takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Headden tries to bum rush Penna with a series of wild strikes but Penna uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Headden shoots in and bounces Penna off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Penna is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
