Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matts Serra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ross The Boss! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Serra lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends The Boss sprawling to the canvas. Serra follows him down, looking for the kill. Can The Boss hang on?
It looks like Ross The Boss has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! The Boss wants to get back to his feet.
Serra is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and The Boss defends it well. Serra is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Serra wants to pass to mount but The Boss is defending the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Serra wants to take a breather but The Boss is having none of it. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Serra is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! The Boss is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Serra controlling from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The Boss's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Serra is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. The Boss can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Serra controlling the position easily from mount. Serra jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but The Boss manages to avoid the submission attempt. Serra trying to control the action but The Boss is working from the bottom. The Boss is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The Boss is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Serra wants to lay and pray for a moment but The Boss keeps working. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. The Boss is trying to escape the position but Serra is controlling the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Serra in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... The Boss is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
