Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott McCoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gonzo Rawlings!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCoy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McCoy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
McCoy forces the positional change into back control.

McCoy is looking for the choke from the back position but Rawlings is controlling his hands well.

McCoy is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Rawlings defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rawlings wants to control his opponent's hands but McCoy gets his hands free.
McCoy doesn't have the hooks in and Rawlings manages to turn into his guard.
Rawlings slips nicely into half guard.
McCoy is staying active underneath Rawlings, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
McCoy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McCoy is working hard here to advance position.

Rawlings seems to be looking for submissions.
McCoy tries to roll over but Rawlings keeps him under control.
Rawlings trying to mount his opponent but McCoy defends it.
McCoy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McCoy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and McCoy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rawlings's guard.

McCoy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rawlings is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McCoy drops back looking for a leg! Rawlings is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rawlings manages to kick McCoy off! McCoy jumps back into Rawlings's guard.

Rawlings looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Rawlings is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
McCoy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rawlings is keeping the position for now.
Rawlings is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

McCoy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rawlings dives on top into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rawlings thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

McCoy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rawlings gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McCoy sneaks back into half guard.
McCoy is looking to control Rawlings's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McCoy avoid being mounted?

McCoy looking for submissions off his back.
McCoy tries to get to full guard but Rawlings has control of the leg.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

McCoy actively working from the bottom here.

McCoy regains full guard. Nicely done.
Rawlings trying to control the position from guard on top but McCoy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rawlings sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McCoy's guard.
McCoy wants to get back to full guard but Rawlings has passed into side control.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
McCoy manages to regain half guard. Good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott McCoy dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



McCoy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
McCoy really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

McCoy postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Rawlings to stand up.

Rawlings feints and as McCoy raises his hands in defense, Rawlings changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

McCoy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rawlings wants to pass the guard but McCoy is keeping the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rawlings stands and throws McCoy's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Rawlings trying to control the action but McCoy is working from the bottom.

McCoy sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
McCoy could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

McCoy looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
McCoy is in trouble now - Rawlings has advanced to mount!
McCoy tries to reverse the position but Rawlings maintains control.

Rawlings looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Rawlings wants to finish this one by submission but McCoy is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rawlings.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCoy can't escape the position.

Rawlings quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Rawlings but it's paid off an McCoy is forced to tap! Nice work by Rawlings.
