Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nikita Koloff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Tomas!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koloff falls off balance throwing a combination
and Tomas counters with a left to the body.
Koloff instigates a clinch.
Koloff fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Tomas wants to take the fight to the mat but Koloff manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Tomas misses with a hook to the ribs.
Koloff is trying to drag Tomas to the mat but Tomas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Koloff jumps guard and drags Tomas to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Tomas with a flurry of punches that miss.
Koloff throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Koloff throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Koloff wants to get back to his feet but Tomas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Tomas stopping the sweep attempt from Koloff.
Koloff wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Tomas is now in half guard.
Koloff is looking for a sweep. Tomas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Tomas is thwarting Koloff's attempts to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tomas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Koloff does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Koloff trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Koloff tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tomas working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Koloff turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Tomas off and cradles Koloff's limp body as Tomas celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). James Tomas!
