Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam McKay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McKay comes to the cage accompanied by What a nice day for a funeral. Mir comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Spoilin For A Fight kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sam McKay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Mir! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McKay throws out a token jab with nothing on it. McKay misses with a body shot
and Mir counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. McKay is adopting a defensive guard. Mir is looking to work some ground and pound but McKay has wrist control. Mir throws a big right hand that misses. McKay pulls Mir in to control the position. Mir throws a big elbow that misses. Mir trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mir trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. McKay controlling the position. Mir distracts McKay with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mir lands a couple of elbows. Mir working some strikes from top position. Mir wants to control from the top but McKay keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Mir stops McKay from standing up. Mir missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. McKay keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully. Mir working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Mir throws a big elbow that misses. Mir throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. McKay pulls Mir in close to his closed guard and prevents Mir from doing any damage or advancing position. McKay knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mir on the ground. Mir sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mir keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from McKay.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir tries for a takedown but McKay sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. McKay connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mir momentarily.
It looks like Frank Mir has been cut. McKay wants to clinch up but Mir keeps it at a distance. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Mir checks a leg kick. McKay wants to land a leg kick but Mir is out of range. McKay throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mir sees it coming and avoids it easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A cross from Mir lands. McKay tries to clinch but Mir is having none of it. McKay fails in his attempt to clinch. Mir rushes McKay and presses him up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McKay tries to throw a body punch but Mir avoids it by throwing McKay back against the cage. McKay tries to work over Mir's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. McKay lands on the inside with an uppercut. McKay lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. McKay tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. McKay swings away with an uppercut that misses.
McKay goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
McKay tries a body shot but Mir blocks it.
McKay misses with a hook to the ribs.
McKay digs a right hand into Mir's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Mir's gas tank. McKay fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
McKay doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
McKay tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mir's elbow. Mir prevents a body shot from McKay. McKay misses with a punch to the body.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mir blocks a body shot from McKay. McKay lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Mir or not. McKay swings wildly with an uppercut but Mir uses good head movement to avoid it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. McKay lands with a light punch inside. McKay prevents the takedown attempt.
McKay tries to work over Mir's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Mir blocks a body shot from McKay. McKay gets through Mir's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. McKay swings away with an uppercut that misses.
McKay misses with a short punch on the inside. Mir jumps guard but McKay stands there with Mir around his waist. Mir gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sam McKay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir. McKay swings wildly with an uppercut but Mir uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Nice body punch from McKay. McKay can't find room to land a body shot as Mir controls the action.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, McKay creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. McKay tries to throw a body punch but Mir avoids it by throwing McKay back against the cage. McKay is defending well against a takedown attempt. A right handed body shot lands from McKay.
Mir looks gassed! McKay tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. McKay pushes Mir back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McKay lands a hook that snaps the head of Mir backwards. McKay lands with a light punch inside. McKay misses with a hook to the ribs.
Mir is looking for a takedown. Good body shot from Mir.
McKay can't find room to land a body shot as Mir controls the action.
That's six minutes gone in the round. McKay tries to throw a body punch but Mir avoids it by throwing McKay back against the cage. Mir wants to take the fight to the mat but McKay manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Mir jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McKay walks away with a smile on his face. Mir gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Mir waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McKay. Decent striking displayed by McKay there. McKay scores with a jab to the body. Mir takes one on the chin but seems OK.
McKay takes a swing at Mir's ribcage but misses. Mir gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
That has opened up Frank Mir's cut even more. Sam McKay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McKay scores with a jab to the jaw. Mir takes one on the button. Sam McKay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McKay is looking to slow Mir down with leg kicks.

The cut above Frank Mir's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Mir takes one to the chin there. McKay misses with a looping left. McKay throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mir on the side of the head. McKay lands a really nice looking cross but Mir seems unphased.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McKay tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mir was well out of range. Poor timing from McKay. Ouch! a nice leg kick from McKay, right into the meat.
Mir blocks a jab. McKay fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

A jab from Mir misses. McKay moves in looking to clinch but Mir pushes him off. McKay connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mir. Mir circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Frank Mir's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
