Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Couto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos Couto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carlos Couto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kimbo Slice!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Couto scores with a nice right hand.


It looks like Kimbo Slice has been cut.
Couto paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Couto has Slice up against the cage in a clinch.

Slice pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Couto dives in and grabs Slice's left leg, looking for a takedown. Slice pushes down on Couto's head and hops out.
Nice takedown defense from Couto. No joy for Slice on that attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Couto looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Couto misses with a takedown attempt - Slice sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Couto fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Couto throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Slice.
Slice fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sloppy strikes from Couto. Those never looked like landing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Couto closes the distance and pushes Slice back into the cage.
Couto misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Couto has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Slice is struggling to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Slice wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Slice drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Carlos Couto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kimbo Slice.
Slice looks gassed!
Couto working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Couto is pushing Slice up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Slice jumps guard but Couto turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Couto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Slice takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Couto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Slice sprawls well initially but Couto persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Couto not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Slice controlling the position well.
Couto tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Slice.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slice can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Couto is just content to waste time from the top position. Slice takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Couto throwing strikes from guard but Slice blocks nicely.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Slice is on top in guard.

Slice drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Slice jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Couto pushes Slice off and scrambles back to his feet.
Slice showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Couto.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Slice swinging wildly here.

Couto darts in and clinches Slice up against the cage.

Couto manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Slice decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Couto swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Slice counters by moving into the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Couto lands a hook that snaps the head of Slice backwards.

Couto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Couto, as that shot connected.
Couto tries to clinch but Slice moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slice fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Couto misses with a few strikes there.
Slice shoots in for a takedown but Couto shows good takedown defense.
Couto's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Couto duly obliges.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Couto scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Slice doesn't seem bothered though.
Couto shoots in looking for a takedown but Slice manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Couto's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Slice is trying desperately to land a takedown but Couto is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Slice.
Slice shoots for a double leg takedown but Couto sprawls well. He's pushed Slice's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Slice changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Couto tries to avoid it but Slice manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Couto to the ground. Couto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Slice avoids a punch combination nicely.

Slice closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Couto pushes Slice off looking to stand but Slice dives back in and keeps control.
Slice seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Couto dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kimbo Slice's cut.
That's time! Couto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Couto fails in his attempt to clinch.
No luck for Couto with that takedown attempt.
Couto blocks a head kick by Slice.
Carlos Couto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Couto shoots in looking for a takedown. Slice tries to sprawl out of it but Couto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Slice manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Couto defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Slice.

Couto moves into range and clinches up with Slice.

Couto breaks the clinch.

Couto rushes Slice and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Couto lands a nice uppercut.

Couto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Couto closes this distance looking for a takedown but Slice circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Couto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Couto shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Slice as he jumps to the side.
Slice fails to land with a series of punches.
Couto tries to clinch up but Slice circles away and keeps his distance.
Slice thows a body shot but no joy.
Slice tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Couto moves in looking to clinch but Slice pushes him off.
Slice takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Carlos Couto is winning the standup battle so far.
Horrible takedown by Couto or perhaps it was just good defense by Slice which made him look bad.
Slice throws a series of punches but Couto moves out of range.

Slice shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Couto napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Slice should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Couto wants to get back to his feet.
Slice trying to control the action but Couto is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Couto tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Slice is punishing Couto with some ground and pound.
Couto is trying to get back to his feet but Slice has full control of the position and if anything, Couto has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Couto is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Slice gets his way!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Couto is trying to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Slice is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Couto won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Slice off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kimbo Slice!
