PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fast Punch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Punch comes to the cage accompanied by Prodigy - Hot Ride . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fast Punch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Jackson.
Punch takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Jackson pushes Punch up against the cage in a clinch.
Jackson lands a nice uppercut.
Jackson throws a head punch that misses.
Jackson misses with a hook from the clinch.
Punch wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jackson has him pressed against the cage.

Punch jumps guard and drags Jackson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Punch controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.
Jackson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Jackson is fighting to break Punch's control of his arms but Punch is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Punch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Punch seems keen to control Jackson's posture.

Fast Punch has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Punch looks to throw the jab but Jackson is out of range.
Punch throws a jab but it's blocked by Jackson.
Punch throws a body punch but Jackson moves out of range.
Jackson fails with the takedown.
Punch lands with an overhand left.
Jackson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Punch sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jackson misses with a low kick.
Jackson connects with a leg kick. Punch looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Jackson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Punch doesn't seem bothered though.

Punch closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Punch lands in his opponent's guard.

Punch prevents Jackson from getting back to his feet.
Jackson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Punch is one step ahead there.
Punch trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jackson sizes up Punch with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A bone on bone clash there as Jackson blocks the leg kick.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Punch tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Punch manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fast Punch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Jackson.

Jackson throws the kick towards the body but Punch avoids it.
Jackson cracks Punch with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Jackson takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Punch blocks the body kick.
Punch fails to land the takedown.
Jackson throws a solid leg kick but Punch takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Jackson.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A slapping leg kick lands for Jackson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Shane Jackson will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Jackson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Punch throws out the jab.

Punch fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Punch persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Punch keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jackson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Punch has time to react.
Jackson throws a body punch but Punch moves out of range.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jackson.
Jackson dodges the punch combination from Punch.
Punch lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Jackson misses with a straight left.
Punch throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Jackson throws a jab but it's blocked by Punch.

Jackson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Punch sprawls well initially but Jackson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Punch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jackson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Punch preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Punch is refusing to be controlled, as Jackson sits in half guard.
Jackson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Punch is looking to control Jackson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Punch avoid being mounted?
Punch is concentrating on defense, preventing Jackson from advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Punch closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jackson quickly recovers to half guard.
Punch seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jackson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

We're going to have a standup here because Fast Punch wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Punch on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Punch connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jackson momentarily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson throws a body kick that misses.
Punch chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jackson can pounce on him.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fast Punch will probably get the nod.

Punch fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jackson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Punch misses with a takedown attempt - Jackson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jackson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Jackson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Shane Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Punch.
Punch on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Jackson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Punch avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Punch's corner calls for a 1-2. Punch obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Punch misses with a lunging right hand
and Jackson counters with a nice leg kick.

Punch shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Punch's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Nice takedown defense from Punch. No joy for Jackson on that attempt.

Punch moves out of range of the body kick from Jackson.
Punch throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jackson moves away from the strike by Punch.
Punch ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A good leg kick by Jackson.
Jackson throws a big shot that misses.
Jackson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Punch lands a jab.
Jackson misses with a straight left.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Punch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fast Punch. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A slapping body kick lands there for Jackson.

Jackson tries to clinch but Punch is having none of it.
Jackson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Jackson tries to land a front kick but Punch steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Punch misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jackson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Punch's sensitive parts.
Jackson fails with a takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Punch counters with a nice uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

I would just about give that final round to Shane Jackson.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
