PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hunks Jucci (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Furijima Donatello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donatello is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Furijima Donatello!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jucci fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Donatello manages to avoid it.
Donatello shoots in for a takedown but Jucci shows good takedown defense.

Donatello feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Donatello tries to free his leg and advance position but Jucci is retaining full guard.
Jucci controls Donatello momentarily but Donatello frees himself.
Jucci knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Donatello on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jucci tries to roll over but Donatello keeps him under control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Donatello connects with a nice short shot to Jucci's temple.

Donatello postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Donatello cracks Jucci with a big right hand but Jucci just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Donatello tries for a takedown but Jucci sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

It looks like Furijima Donatello has been cut.
Jucci fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Donatello showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jucci.
Jucci takes a swing at Donatello's ribcage but misses.
Jucci connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Donatello's hands.
Jucci does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Jucci closes the distance but Donatello moves to the side
and Donatello connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jucci lands with a hook. Donatello tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Jucci throws a jab but it's blocked by Donatello.
Jucci pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jucci throws a front kick aimed at Donatello's knee but Donatello avoids it well.

Jucci lands the left hand.
Donatello walks into a straight right hand from Jucci.
Jucci leaves Donatello with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That has opened up Furijima Donatello's cut even more.
Jucci is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Donatello takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jucci throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Donatello throws a hook to the side of Jucci's head but Jucci sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jucci tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Donatello was well out of range. Poor timing from Jucci.
Horrible takedown by Donatello or perhaps it was just good defense by Jucci which made him look bad.
Hunks Jucci has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Furijima Donatello.

Donatello shoots for a double leg takedown but Jucci sprawls well. He's pushed Donatello's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Donatello looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jucci is fending him off so far but Donatello persists. Nope, Jucci circles away and we're back to standing.

Donatello swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

The cut above Furijima Donatello's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Jucci fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Donatello, pushing him back against the cage.

Jucci is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Donatello connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Donatello scores with a hook to the body. Jucci takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Jucci fails with an attempt to clinch.

Hunks Jucci seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Donatello frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Donatello tries to control but Jucci wriggling away.
Donatello lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Donatello won't let Jucci get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Donatello cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
