Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Bombadil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Helm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Bombadil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Helm!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bombadil fails in his attempt to clinch.

Helm drives through with a takedown into Bombadil's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Helm throws a big elbow that misses.
Helm postures up and lands a big shot to Bombadil's brow.
Bombadil working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Helm.
Bombadil is breathing heavily.
Helm is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Helm keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bombadil's head.
Helm lands a couple of elbows.
Helm trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bombadil's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Helm throws a big right hand that misses.
Helm loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Helm stands up from Bombadil's guard - Helm perhaps looking for a knockout.

Helm clinches up with Bombadil and pushes him back against the ropes.

Helm manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Bombadil won't allow Helm to get back to his feet.

Helm has his foot on Bombadil's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bombadil works his way back into a safe position though.
Helm manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bombadil manages to get himself to full guard.

Bombadil on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bombadil tries to get out of the position.
Helm distracts Bombadil with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Bombadil utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Helm accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bombadil looking for a sweep. Not yet Bombadil, not yet.
Helm missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Helm makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Helm postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Helm postures up in Bombadil's guard and throws a big left but Bombadil blocks it.

Bombadil looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Helm stands up and waves to Bombadil to follow him.

Helm clinches with his opponent.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Helm.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Helm as Bombadil tries to tie him up.
Helm landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Helm manages to break the clinch.

Helm fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bombadil, pushing him back against the ropes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Helm misses with an elbow strike.

Helm has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bombadil uses from the top position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Helm not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bombadil drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Helm dives on top into guard.
Helm trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bombadil has momentary wrist control but Helm slips an elbow through the middle.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Helm is in close to Bombadil's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Helm stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Helm dives in and grabs Bombadil's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bombadil pushes down on Helm's head and hops out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Helm dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Helm has closed the distance and engaged Bombadil in a clinch.
Helm with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Bombadil looking to throw knees to the head but Helm is blocking nicely.

Bombadil breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bombadil takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Helm moves in looking to clinch but Bombadil pushes him off.
Helm fails with the takedown.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Helm.
The fight stays on the outside here - Helm looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bombadil throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Helm.

Helm shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bombadil is trying to defend but Helm finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Helm scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Bombadil tries to roll over but Helm keeps him under control.
Bombadil keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Helm has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Helm is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bombadil is just riding it out for now. Helm eventually gives up the hold.

Helm drops an elbow to the side of Bombadil's head.

Helm is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bombadil doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Helm.

Helm is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Helm wants to work for an arm triangle but Bombadil is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Helm is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Bombadil is looking to improve his position.
Bombadil avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Helm.
Helm throwing shots but Bombadil is blocking nicely.
Helm scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Helm stands up from half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Helm tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bombadil swivels and escapes.
John Bombadil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Helm.
Helm fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Helm showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Bombadil fails to land with a series of punches.
Helm fails with an attempt to clinch.
Helm shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bombadil as he jumps to the side.
Helm wants to clinch up but Bombadil keeps it at a distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bombadil.
Helm tries to clinch but Bombadil is having none of it.
Bombadil circles away from the clinch attempt.
That kick from Helm tenderised Bombadil's leg. Bombadil is trying to keep his angry face on.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Helm with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Helm moves into the clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Helm just misses with a elbow thrown towards Bombadil's brow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Helm lands an elbow inside that Bombadil shrugs off.
Helm landing knees to the body.
Bombadil blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Helm misses with some punches.
Bombadil takes a knee right on the jaw!
Helm is trying to stall.

Helm has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bombadil uses from the top position.
Bombadil wants to control from the top but Helm keeps moving.
Bombadil stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Helm swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bombadil trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Helm manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Helm decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Helm throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Bombadil managing to block the knees to the body from Helm.
Helm fails to pull guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bombadil avoids the elbow strike from Helm, against the ropes.

Helm keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bombadil's efforts to push away.
Bombadil has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Helm after a bit of a struggle.
Helm is looking to control Bombadil's arms but Bombadil gets an underhook and turns him. Now Helm has his back to the ropes.
Helm tries to land a knee to the head but Bombadil blocks with his arms.

Bombadil has hold of one of Helm's legs. Helm is fighting the takedown attempt but Bombadil gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Helm is trying to control the position but Bombadil postures up.
Bombadil landing some decent shots from guard.

Helm pushes Bombadil off and gets back to his feet.
Helm closes the distance looking to clinch

and Bombadil counters with a shoot takedown. Helm fights it but they end up in guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bombadil decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Helm, up you get!
Helm shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bombadil defends it nicely.
John Bombadil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Helm.
Bombadil swats away the attempt to clinch by Helm.
Helm shoots in but no luck this time.
Helm wants to clinch up but Bombadil keeps it at a distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

John Bombadil has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tom Helm is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Bombadil goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tom Helm comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Helm has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Tom Helm spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
