Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luis Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashad Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez comes into the arena with Magic blaring out of the sound system. Jackson has chosen Pants On tha Ground as his entrance music. Luis Alvarez could well score a knockout today. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alvarez sprawls well. Alvarez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet. Jackson scores with the left hand. Alvarez knows he should have avoided that one. Alvarez wants to clinch and Jackson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Alvarez gets caught flat footed, as Jackson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Alvarez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alvarez swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jackson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alvarez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jackson has Alvarez in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jackson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Alvarez passes into side control.

Alvarez tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Jackson connects with a body shot. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Alvarez closes the distance but Jackson moves to the side and Jackson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Jackson scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Alvarez is breathing heavily. Alvarez tries to clinch but Jackson moves away and Jackson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jackson lands a head shot. Jackson lands a head shot. Luis Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alvarez takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Alvarez wants to clinch but Jackson slips to the side and Jackson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Alvarez's guard now. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jackson slips nicely into half guard. Jackson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Alvarez defending well though. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alvarez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Jackson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Alvarez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jackson on the ground. Jackson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Alvarez has managed to free his arm - good work. Jackson is looking to take a break and control but Alvarez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jackson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Rashad Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Alvarez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Alvarez is retaining full guard. Jackson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Alvarez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
